NCR Forms Printing in Orange County

We print custom carbonless forms for contractors, service businesses, medical offices, and auto shops across Orange County — and we've been doing it since 1979. Invoices, work orders, receipts, estimates, delivery tickets. If your business writes it by hand or runs it through a dot-matrix printer, we build the form.

NCR forms printing hasn't changed much in 40 years because the chemistry works. CB/CFB/CF coated paper, micro-encapsulated ink, pressure transfer. No carbon sheets, no smudging, no alignment problems. You write on the top sheet and every copy below gets an identical image. We handle the entire production run in our Laguna Hills shop — printing, crash numbering, collating, padding, and packaging.

What You Get From Our Forms Operation

CB/CFB/CF Carbonless Paper

We stock Appvion and NCR-brand carbonless paper in all standard colors — white, canary, pink, goldenrod, green, blue. The micro-encapsulated ink transfers cleanly through all parts with normal writing pressure.

2-Part Through 5-Part Standard

Two-part for simple receipts. Three-part for most invoices and work orders. Four and five-part for operations routing copies to multiple departments. Six-part available on request.

Crash and Sequential Numbering

Crash numbering stamps through all parts simultaneously — the number matches on every sheet, guaranteed. Sequential numbering prints during the press run. Both start at any number you choose.

Color-Coded Parts for Routing

Standard color sequence: white (original), canary, pink, goldenrod, green, blue. Each department or recipient gets a designated color — no guessing which copy belongs where.

Padding, Wire-O, and Snap-Set

Padding compound with chipboard backing is the most common. Snap-set books with wraparound covers and writing shields for field use. Wire-o binding for forms that need to lay flat.

3-5 Day Turnaround

Standard orders ship in 3-5 business days. That includes printing, numbering, collating, and binding. Rush service available — call (949) 951-7000 to confirm availability on your quantity.

How Carbonless Paper Works

Understanding the paper chemistry helps you choose the right configuration for your forms.

NCR (No Carbon Required) paper uses micro-encapsulated ink instead of loose carbon sheets. Three coating types work together:

Sheet PositionCoating TypeWhat It Does
Top sheet (CB)Coated BackContains micro-capsules filled with colorless ink on the back surface. Writing pressure breaks the capsules.
Middle sheets (CFB)Coated Front and BackReceives ink on the front from the sheet above, and has its own capsules on the back to transfer to the sheet below.
Bottom sheet (CF)Coated FrontReceives only. The clay coating on the front reacts with the released ink to form a visible, permanent image.

The transferred image is permanent — it won't smudge, rub off, or fade under normal handling. The chemistry is the same whether you write with a ballpoint pen or run the form through a dot-matrix printer. Heavier writing pressure produces darker copies on the lower sheets.

Paper Colors and Part Routing

The standard color sequence for carbonless form printing makes routing automatic:

  1. White — Original (top sheet, always CB coated)
  2. Canary (yellow) — First copy, typically customer's copy
  3. Pink — Second copy, typically office file or accounting
  4. Goldenrod — Third copy, field crew or warehouse
  5. Green — Fourth copy, additional department
  6. Blue — Fifth copy (rare — most jobs stop at 3 or 4 parts)

You choose which colors you want and we match them to your routing needs. Not locked into the standard sequence — we can customize.

Numbering Options

Sequential Numbering

Each form set gets a consecutive number — 0001, 0002, 0003 — printed in ink during the press run. You pick the starting number and the position on the form (top right is most common). All parts within a set carry the same number.

Crash Numbering

An impact numbering head stamps through all parts of the form simultaneously after printing. This guarantees the number appears in the exact same position on every sheet in the set. Crash numbering is the preferred method for multi-part forms because there is zero chance of a mismatch between parts.

Crash-numbered forms can include perforated tear-off stubs — a numbered tab at the top or side that you detach and clip to your file folder, job board, or dispatch sheet. The stub matches the form number for tracking.

Binding and Assembly

Padded Forms (Most Popular)

Sets are collated, stacked, and glued at the top edge with padding compound over a chipboard backer. You tear off one complete set at a time. Available in pads of 25, 50, or 100 sets. The chipboard provides a firm writing surface — no clipboard needed.

Snap-Set Books

Individual sets are bound into a wraparound cover with a writing shield (a piece of heavy stock that separates the current set from the rest). Works like a checkbook — you flip open, write on the current set, the shield prevents your pen from marking through to the next set. Preferred by field technicians who need a self-contained writing surface.

Wire-O Binding

Metal wire binding along the top or side lets the form book lay completely flat. Good for forms that live at a desk or counter — repair order books, patient intake forms, sales order pads. Sets are perforated for clean tear-out.

Stapled and Collated

Pre-collated sets stapled together for immediate distribution. No padding, no binding — just grab a set and go. Common for one-time-use forms like event registration, patient consent, or service authorization.

Common Form Types

Invoices

The most common custom invoice printing job we run. Typically 2-part (white/canary) or 3-part (white/canary/pink). Fields for customer info, line items with quantity and price columns, subtotal/tax/total, payment terms, and your company info pre-printed at the top. Crash numbered for bookkeeping.

Work Orders

Work order forms printing for contractors, HVAC techs, plumbers, electricians, and landscapers. Three-part is standard — office keeps white, tech keeps canary, customer gets pink at job completion. Fields for job site address, scope of work, materials used, labor hours, and sign-off.

Receipts

Receipt book printing custom for service businesses, retail, and cash-heavy operations. Two-part — customer gets white, you keep canary. Compact 5.5x8.5 size fits in a truck cab or register area. Sequential numbering for audit tracking.

Estimates and Quotes

Two-part snap-set books for on-the-spot quoting. Write up the estimate in the field, tear out the white original for the customer, keep canary for follow-up. Pre-printed terms and conditions on the back save you from writing the same disclaimers by hand.

Delivery Tickets and Packing Slips

Two or three-part forms with fields for item description, quantity, condition notes, and recipient signature. The driver keeps one copy, the warehouse keeps one, the customer signs and keeps theirs. Crash numbered to match your dispatch system.

Service Agreements

Customer sign-off forms for recurring service contracts — pool maintenance, janitorial, pest control, landscaping. Pre-printed terms on the back, signature lines on the front. Two-part: customer gets the original, you keep the canary for your contract file.

Industries That Use NCR Forms

Contractors (Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Roofing)

Work orders with material checklists, labor hour tracking, and customer sign-off. Contractor invoice forms with itemized labor and materials. Three-part is the standard: office file, field tech, customer.

Automotive (Repair Shops, Body Shops, Detailing)

Repair orders with diagnostic findings, parts lists, and authorization signatures. Service receipts with warranty terms. Estimate forms with customer approval lines.

Medical and Dental Offices

Patient intake forms, treatment consent forms, HIPAA-compliant information releases. Payment receipts with insurance documentation fields. Two-part for most — patient gets one, chart gets one.

Landscaping and Pool Service

Weekly service visit logs with checklist items (chemicals added, equipment inspected, issues noted). Installation work orders with material lists. Customer receipts for one-time services.

Wholesale and Distribution

Purchase orders, packing slips with item verification columns, delivery tickets with signature capture. Four-part forms route copies to sales, warehouse, shipping, and customer.
